ATTENTION - DRINKING WATER
Banana Boat is helping to reduce plastic waste in Luang Prabang. We use light weight reusable aluminium bottles for drinking water, the drinking water comes from 5 litre bottles we purchase from a reputable water company in town. Bottles are thoroughly cleaned after each trip. We hope our passengers can understand this strategy to reduce the amount of small plastic water bottles going into landfill. You can purchase a bottle for 60,000kip in our office (the Ma Te Sai shop) if you wish to keep one, and if travelling around town we are one of many free refill stations. |
Things to remember about boating and touring in Laos:
- The rivers in Laos vary in height greatly between the wet and dry seasons so you will have times when you have to walk up steep river banks. If you cannot walk up steep inclines without steps let us know so we can make sure you are set down in suitable places with ramps or steps. Steps are unavoidable.
- It can be very cold in the dry season (Nov-Mar), so dress warmly for sitting on the boat. Even in the hot wet season (May-Sep) it is a good idea to bring a light cover as it can get chilly if caught in a rain storm.
- It is your trip so enjoy your time, but please be mindful of sunset, it is not easy navigating at night.
- The boat has a low ceiling and can be unstable, so mind your head and it is best if you sit evenly on either side of the boat. Try and manage the weight displacement with your friends, swapping seats if you want to suddenly move to one side to take a photo.
- Relax.....we are in no hurry so enjoy the ride.
